Check on your favorite veteran. Not with a like on a post. With a real call.

Veteran depression is at an all-time high right now, and the ones struggling the most are usually the ones who go the quietest. The strong one. The one who always says they are fine. The one who carried everyone else and never learned how to put it down. They are not going to raise their hand. So the people who love them have to go first.

Ask The Real Question

Not how are you, which everybody answers with good. Ask how are you really doing, and then stay on the line long enough to hear the real answer. Sometimes the whole thing turns on somebody being willing to sit in the quiet after the question instead of rushing to fill it.

If You Or Someone You Love Is In Crisis

Help is there any time, day or night. The Veterans Crisis Line is free and confidential. Dial 988 and press 1, or text 838255, or chat online at VeteransCrisisLine.net. You do not have to carry it alone, and neither do they.

This is a hard topic, and we are not going to dress it up. We walk this road with veterans and the people who love them every day, and the work only matters if the person is still here to do it. So before anything else, this one is simple.

Go call them. Today.
